Summary Chart by Assistant State
Attorney Kenneth Lewis: This is an excellent chart outlining the
various statutes and rules of evidence relevant to prosecuting sex crimes
and child abuse. It is very comprehensive and useful for both law
enforcement and attorneys. Mr. Lewis has also been kind enough to
share his sexual offender chart,
which outlines the various elements of the complex sexual offender and
predator laws.
Computer-Related
Statutes Protecting Children: This table provides a summary of the
various computer-related offenses that can be utilized to prosecute those
who prey on children via the Internet or computer.
Sentencing
Guidelines: This table provides a quick reference for the
applicable sentencing guidelines for various sexual offenses. The
table assumes the suspect is charges with one to five counts of the
applicable charge with penetration or union assumed in the calculation.
Electronic
Communications and Privacy Act: This chart provides a quick
reference to the federal act that governs the appropriate process needed to
obtain customer information from electronic communications providers such as
America Online and Yahoo. The chart must be viewed in print layout
view or other similar graphic enabled view. In Word, this means you
click View and then Print Layout.
Statute
of Limitations Chart: This outline lists the various statute of
limitations sections applicable specifically to sex crimes cases. The
effective dates of the statutes are included.
Obscure Sex Crimes:
This table lists the various sex offenses outside of the basic 794 and
800.04 sections.
