    This is a 16 hour class that covers both technical and legal considerations in computer and Internet-related crime.  Topics discussed include basic technical issues, statutes, search and seizure, entrapment and trial presentation.  The class is in a computer lab and students will be able to go online to practice investigative techniques.

SEARCH AND SEIZURE IN THE ELECTRONIC AGE

Following class:  

    This is a 24 hour class that covers both technical and legal issues involved in seizing electronic evidence.  Investigator Hernandez will instruct the class on technical considerations and ASA Nicewander will instruct on legal considerations with a focus on consent searches and drafting warrants.  After the lectures, the class will split into teams and confront fictional crime scenes.  The instructors will test the student's abilities to handle challenging situations that may be confronted in the real world.  After completing these scenarios, each team will have to draft a warrant.

    This is an 8 hour class that covers the most recent legislative updates and case law from the past year.  There is a case law emphasis on 4th, 5th and 6th amendment issues.

Conducting Internet Investigations

Instructor:   Wilfredo Hernandez

    This is a five day comprehensive class covering the various technical issues confronted by  investigators on the Internet.  It is a hands-on class in a computer lab where the student receives extensive training preparing him or her to investigate criminal offenses involving the Internet.   This is a very entertaining and informative class.
